At Montclair State, Savannah plans to study English with the goal of becoming a teacher.

"Ever since I was a little girl, I would force my younger brother to let me help him with homework and learning activities," she says. "I always enjoyed being of assistance to others, especially those younger than myself."

Savannah also volunteered to teach in Sunday school and at a school for children with disabilities.

"Teaching the children new lessons via stories, activities, and even snacks was something to which I took a great liking," she say.

Savannah says she was inspired by teachers at her high school, who became her role models.

"Because of them, I do not have a doubt in my mind that teaching is what I would like to do for the rest of my life," she says.
