Elizabeth Barcelo received a $1,000 scholarship from the ARJ Civic Association to continue her education at Essex County College.

Elizabeth is a 2009 honors graduate of Bloomfield Tech High School, where she was a member of the volleyball team. She received a certificate in television and video production and worked on a video that was shown to the graduating class. 

Elizabeth, the daughter of Dominican Civil Engineer parents Pedro and Altagracia Barcelo, graduated from Essex County College in 2013 with an associate's degree in liberal arts with a communication option.

She returned to Essex County College this year to pursue a second degree in new media technology.

"I look forward to achieving my goal of creating a company where I can combine or separately do work for both of my majors," Elizabeth said. "My family has supported every decision and idea I have made and have in mind so far."
